Ceramic Trinket Dish- ‘The Pīwaiwaka / Fantail’s dance’

NZ$27.95

A sweet little trinket dish — perfect for holding rings, earrings, and other small treasures.

‘The pīwaiwaka | fantail’s dance’, features a pīwaiwaka | fantail, swooping and spreading it's beautiful wings and tail feathers.

Believe it or not, pīwaiwaka | fantail birds are one of Aotearoa | New Zealand’s fierce hunters! And those beautiful long tail feathers aren’t just for looks, they also help them to twist and turn very quickly during flight. Their favourites are moths, flies, spiders, wasps, beetles, and the occasional fruit. Yum, yum!

We are so lucky in Aotearoa | New Zealand to have such a friendly, joyful little bird hanging around. If you want to give theses little cuties a helping hand, lets keep a close eye on our furry feline friends, and a big hi-5 to you if you can set a rat trap, or two!

Art work by Northland based artist, Katy Hayward. This drawing was inspired by her aroha | love for going on beautiful bushwalks with her little family, and the joy of being followed by friendly birds who dart and chase her daughter around.
