Mug - Home Is Here - Tūī
‘Home is here’, featuring a tūī bird perched on a wave of Aotearoa | New Zealand native flora and joined by a few special flying friends.
The tūī is one of Aotearoa’s most beloved native birds. They are intelligent and boisterous with beautiful iridescent feathers.
Tūī belong to the honeyeater family, meaning they feed mainly on nectar, with their down curved beaks fitting perfectly into native flowers.
And have you ever heard a tūī’s voice(s)? Each tūī’s complex song is distinct to it’s surroundings with a colourful mix of melodic and percussive sounds.
Art work by Northland based artist, Katy Hayward. This drawing was inspired by her aroha | love for going on beautiful bushwalks with her little family, and the joy of stopping and listening to a tūī bird belting out a good tune, there is no other sound like it!
